Care & Maintenance Guide
Steel furniture, properly cared for, lasts decades. Five minutes a week keeps yours looking new.
Daily / weekly cleaning
- Wipe with a soft, dry cotton cloth or microfiber to remove dust.
- For smudges or fingerprints, use a slightly damp cloth — wring it well.
- Dry immediately after wiping. Never let water sit on welded joints or the bottom edge.
- Use a soft brush attachment to vacuum dust from grilles, decorative cuts, or louvres.
Deep cleaning (monthly)
- Mix a few drops of mild dish soap in lukewarm water.
- Wipe gently with a soft cloth. Avoid scouring pads or steel wool — they scratch the powder coat.
- Rinse with a damp cloth (no soap). Dry fully with a clean dry cloth.
- For stubborn marks, use a baking soda paste — apply, leave 2 minutes, wipe off, dry.
- Apply a thin coat of furniture polish or car wax once every 3 months for a fresh finish.
Hardware care
- Lubricate hinges, locks, and drawer slides every 6 months — a drop of sewing-machine oil or 3-in-1 oil is enough.
- Tighten visible screws periodically. Loose hardware is the #1 cause of premature wear.
- If a door starts to sag, adjust the hinge screws — most hinges have a height/depth adjustment.
- Replace worn handles or knobs early — a loose handle damages the door panel over time.
What to avoid
- Acidic or alkaline cleaners (toilet cleaner, drain cleaner, bleach, harpic) — they strip the powder coat.
- Abrasive scrubbers, steel wool, or scouring pads.
- Solvents like petrol, kerosene, paint thinner, acetone — they dissolve the finish.
- Direct outdoor exposure to rain unless the product was ordered with outdoor / rust-proof spec.
- Placing very hot items (pots straight from the stove) directly on a powder-coated surface — use a trivet or pad.
- Loading beyond the product's rated capacity. Almirahs can take 30–40 kg per shelf; storage boxes 50–100 kg total.
Seasonal care
Monsoon (June–September)
Open almirah doors for 30 minutes once a week to ventilate. Add a small silica gel sachet inside to absorb humidity. Wipe immediately if you see condensation.
Summer (April–June)
Keep furniture out of direct sunlight if possible. UV exposure can fade colors over years.
Winter (December–January)
No special care needed. Hardware may stiffen slightly in cold — a drop of oil restores smooth operation.
